Cincinnati State: Technical and Community College
Cincinnati, OH

Client Space

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College was chartered in 1969, and today offers more than 75 associate degrees and 40 certificate programs in business technologies, health/public safety, engineering technologies, humanities/science and information technologies. Cincinnati State has one of the largest cooperative education programs in the United States.

Cincinnati State has reopened their newly renovated gymnasium, the three month renovation project started with tearing up the old gym floor built in the 1960s. The demolition project was not an easy task as workers had to strip multiple layers, starting with the wood playing surface followed by thick wood beams and tar making up the sub floor. After the tar base was gone, construction crews faced the difficult task of leveling the gym floor - the solution was a retro floor designed specifically to fix the leveling of floors. Once the floor was leveled construction crews installed a state-of-the-art, spring loaded playing surface which features a new look with their “Surge” logo which will make its debut at the beginning of basketball season. A new, energy-efficient lighting system and sound system were also installed replacing the old single bulb, 400-watt metal halide light fixtures and speakers.

All home basketball games will be held atop this brand new court in the gymnasium. The court has a spring-loaded floor, representing the current state of the art design. The logo was designed by student who graduated from Cincinnati State in June.
