Goodwill Excel Center

Goodwill Industries of Kentucky was looking to open a one-of-a-kind tuition-free, public high school for adults. The Excel Center® will help Kentuckians 18-years and older who have dropped out of high school earn their diplomas and other industry-recognized certifications in an environment that also offers free childcare and transportation assistance. Goodwill began working with architect Bayus Design Works and construction partner Miranda Construction to fit out a 20,000 SF section of a former shopping center in Louisville, Kentucky to serve up to 350 students at any given time. After months of building a relationship with RCF Group, Goodwill also began working with RCF Group to furnish the new adult high school and daycare.

After collaborative time spent together, the relationship between Goodwill and RCF Group grew into a true partnership leading RCF Group to assist with finish material design integration as well as offering opinions and advice for the layout of the space. It was important to the Goodwill team that the new furnishings truly worked for their budget, was durable and easy to maintain, and could become the standard for the future of additional Excel Centers across the state. RCF Group brought in examples, tested materials, and gave recommendations for the most cost-effective products to meet Goodwill’s needs.

RCF Group worked closely with the Goodwill team to provide a comprehensive design solution for the adult high school and daycare that supports their vision for the facility and builds their brand with the future in mind. The finished space consists of 11 offices, 9 classrooms, a student break room, staff break room, lobby/reception area, and daycare.
