Fifth Third MOC Yellow Green Project – Transforming Workspace for a Modern Workforce

Fifth Third Bank’s existing furniture on the Yellow Green floor at MOC was outdated and ill-suited to their evolving work culture, limiting their ability to collaborate effectively and comfortably. Fifth Third engaged RCF Group to revitalize their workspace, aiming to create an inviting, collaborative, and flexible environment that attracts talent and enhances employee well-being. RCF Group, with Fifth Third and BHDP, worked closely to customize furniture and layouts, reimagining this space to align with Fifth Third’s brand, reflect employee needs, and integrate a unique design aesthetic.

Fifth Third was interested in Compose Echo, a product developed by Haworth, and played an active role in its early feedback process. RCF Group facilitated a visit to Haworth’s headquarters in Holland, Michigan to give Fifth Third a firsthand look at the workstation options, allowing them to choose the right blend of panel, beam, and benching workstations to suit their needs. Compose Echo’s micromovements and signature features—including rounded tabletops, wrap-around privacy screen, onboard storage, and the pivot storage tray—were all major appeals. Fifth Third piloted this concept on this project, with plans to expand across additional floors and buildings.

The primary goal of this project was to revive and modernize the space, with new furniture and configurations to accommodate the way Fifth Third’s teams work now. This redesign would attract top talent and create a cohesive, branded look unique to each location, keeping with Fifth Third’s identity yet avoiding uniform replication. With this focus on flexibility and innovation, the project envisioned distinct work zones, a café, and collaboration spaces that balanced functionality and aesthetics.

Working closely with BHDP and Fifth Third, RCF Group incorporated tailored elements that reflected the client’s goals while introducing innovative layouts and furniture configurations. Custom solutions were developed for the MOC environment, which operates differently than the main tower. These included café-style spaces built around millwork, diverse seating options, and meeting spaces beyond the traditional workstation setup. This customization enables employees to experience an inspiring work environment that feels unique yet cohesive across locations.

The new MOC space was met with excitement and appreciation from employees at the open house. The revitalized workspace offers a flexible, modern design that supports multiple work styles, from independent focus areas to collaborative meeting spaces. Employee feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with one longtime banker expressing that they had never worked for a company that prioritized creating such beautiful, responsive work environments.

Fifth Third’s commitment to listening to their employees’ needs resulted in a vibrant, adaptable workspace that reflects appreciation for their team. Through RCF Group’s collaborative approach, Fifth Third was able to turn a vision into a reality that supports their brand and celebrates individuality, without replicating other spaces. This project highlights RCF Group’s strength in guiding clients toward innovative solutions that align with their brand while supporting diverse work styles.
