Esports Arena

The nation’s first D1 Varsity Esports program was established in 2016 at one of the nation’s premier university’s located in Oxford, Ohio. Based on the growth and success of that program, a feature space for students to practice and compete at the collegiate level with schools across the country was created. Space was identified within their student center located on campus and RCF Group and Haworth were brought in to consult on and provide the furniture for these spaces.

At the beginning of the project, Ohio’s Public Ivy had a specific chair in mind for their Esports Arenas. With the goal to provide an ergonomically comfortable, yet customizable gaming chair for the student athletes, RCF Group and Haworth brought forward another solution to better meet these needs. The end result is a university branded Fern chair that is adjustable to fit each user’s unique body.

The Esports Lounge is now available for all students to access high-performance gaming computers with 20 hours of free game time each week. The Tournament Room is only available when students are competing with other NACE schools, but each room is equipped with high-performing gaming computers, Haworth’s Fern chair with university branding, as well as experiential graphics and lighting that set the mood for competition.
